Wonderful News for Integrated Education as Minister announces additional places for Rowandale IPS

The Northern Ireland Council for Integrated Education (NICIE) has welcomed the approval by the Minister for Education, John O’Dowd, of additional places in Rowandale Integrated Primary School in Moira, Co. Down. This proposal will mean that Rowandale will be able to welcome 57 P1 pupils from September 2015, eventually building to an overall enrolment of 399.

This is good news for parents in the Moira area who have been eager to secure places in this oversubscribed schools. Rowandale Integrated Primary School opened its doors for the first time in September 2007 and has grown rapidly since. The school offers educational excellence at the highest level in an integrated environment which promotes respect and celebrates diversity.

Noreen Campbell, CEO of NICIE said:

“NICIE is committed to ensuring that all parents seeking an integrated place are assured one. This increase in places will support this aim in the Moira area. NICIE is delighted with today’s news of a further approval for increased integrated provision which will ensure that parental demand can be met.

“It is encouraging to see integrated schools gaining approval to grow. Unfortunately, in many areas there is still no integrated choice for parents. NICIE continues to seek to ensure that there is such choice in every area to meet parental demand for integrated education.”
