Anti-Bias in Education
The pioneers of Integrated Education in the 1980s and 1990s understood the importance of bringing people together. However, they also knew that it was necessary to find a way to ‘do’ Integrated Education.
To address this, they drafted the first version of an anti-bias approach for those working within Integrated schools in the late 1990s. Since then, NICIE has developed and promoted Anti-Bias in Education to support staff across Integrated schools.

This publication draws on previous NICIE publications and the work of Louise Derman-Sparks and colleagues: their 2020 publication (external link) is recommended reading.

Primarily Anti-Bias in Education is designed for educators and education stakeholders. NICIE delivers a comprehensive programme of study and reflection in order to support schools to develop anti-bias approaches within their practice.
Additionally, we may be able to deliver shorter taster sessions, the duration of which can be discussed and adapted. These can be delivered to individual schools and groups. All delivery depends on resources available within NICIE at the time, but we are always open to a chat.
