NICIE’s 26th AGM, on the 13th November 2015, charted the successes and challenges of the past year and the hopes and aspirations for the future development of integrated education. The event in Riddel Hall was well attended by governors and principals from integrated schools, the Department of Education, supporters of the integrated education movement and key individuals from other education focused organisations. Alan Henry OBE, Chair of the NICIE board welcomed the new NICIE Chief Executive Roisin Marshall. Roisin said “I am looking forward to leading NICIE. I want integrated education to be owned by everyone, that everyone has a stake in it and everyone has access to it.”
Minutes of 26th Annual General Meeting
A reception dinner followed with invited guest speakers Michael McAvoy & Ruairí de Búrca the joint British and Irish Secretariat. The next day NICIE held its annual seminar at which we invited civic society to explore a range of issues to do with the role of education in society. This year, with a view to the assembly elections in 2016, the working title for our seminar was ‘Shaping the future through education’. The seminar was brought to life by short presentations delivered by invited speakers; Peter Osborne, Chair Community Relations Council, Dr Ian Graham, Business and Industry Consultant, Dr David Russell, Deputy Director, Human Rights Commission & Lisa McElherron, Head of Public Affairs NICVA. NICIE is particularly grateful to all invited speakers for their thought-provoking presentations.
Thank you to all who participated for helping to make NICIE’s AGM and Annual Seminar such a success.
