Staff and governors are very proud indeed of Shimna’s A level students receiving their results today. The destinations speak for themselves: Hannah is off to St John’s College, Cambridge to study Modern and Mediaeval Languages; Kirsten is off to the University of Glasgow to study English and French; Ellie May is off to Queen’s University Belfast to study Law; Karolis is off to the University of Wales in Bangor to study chemistry; Adam is off to the University of Central Lancashire to study Outdoor Management; Morisi is off to university in Utah, USA; Stephen is off to study science at university in Canada – and those are just some examples. We are particularly proud of this year group because no fewer than three of our students lost a parent during this final year, each in very tragic circumstances. All of the students rallied round in support, and their excellent achievements were attained in this context. Love and support are essential values alongside the importance of academic achievement.
