Congratulations to Aimee Kirkham-Priester, a Year 14 pupil at Sperrin College on coming 1st in the AS Animation category of the prestigious Foyle Film Festival.
Aimee’s short film ‘Follow Us’ is a continuation of her GCSE coursework for which she was awarded first place in Northern Ireland for GCSE Art & Design. Aimee’s animation was highly praised by Ingrid Arthurs (Moving Image Arts Subject Officer at CCEA) who commented on the “incredible skill” required to produce her short film. She also stated that Aimee has created an emotive and thought provoking narrative for her short film.
The award was presented to Aimee by up-and-coming German film maker Claudia Heindel at the Brunswick Theatre in Derry on 26 November 2013 and the competition was judged by representatives from CCEA, NI Screen and the Foyle Film Festival, who acknowledged that the standard of work from this year’s entrants was incredibly high.
Aimee’s win is all the more prestigious as it came during the Ten Year Anniversary celebrations of Moving Image Arts as a subject, the 25 Year Anniversary celebrations of the Foyle Film Festival and during Derry’s year as UK City of Culture.
Well done Aimee!
