We are delighted to welcome Sean Pettis as the new CEO for NICIE. Having previously worked for both NICIE and the Integrated Education Fund, Sean brings over 20 years’ experience in the fields of education and peace & reconciliation.
As a youth work practitioner and educator trainer, Sean has held a range of roles, including 10 years with the Corrymeela Community as the Legacies of Conflict Programme Manager. Sean was responsible ‘Facing Our History, Shaping the Future – a project which supports schools in the teaching of sensitive local and global history, working with hundreds of educators, and thousands of young people across Northern Ireland and beyond. He developed and managed a range of programmes within Corrymeela relating to addressing the legacies of conflict. These include an initiative focussed on the history and heritage of the Ulster Plantations, the commemoration of challenging centenaries and the development of films that explored the ‘Troubles.’
Sean holds a BA Joint Hons in Modern History & Politics and an MSc in Community Youth Work. Sean has previously worked at International Voluntary Service, the Community Relations Council and Public Achievement.
As a staff team we look forward to working with Sean and are excited to see what we can achieve together as we work to grow, promote and support Integrated Education.
