On Friday 16th October 2015, Belfast will celebrate the career and memory of Peter Heseltine – respected world expert on children’s play and playgrounds.
To celebrate the career and memory of one of the stalwart campaigners for play and playgrounds, the EWNI branch of IPA will host a series of lectures in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, throughout October.
Mick Conway will deliver the Northern Ireland leg of the lecture series ‘Freedom to Play’. Mick reflects on nearly 40 years of playwork and what lessons there might be for a very different future. Using his true-life stories, cartoons and photos of the magic of children’s play and how it has been provided for over the decades, he explores what he has endured through thick and (mainly) thin and what he hopes has not been irretrievably lost.
This leads to some fundamental questions about where next for play provision and where playwork should be focusing its undoubted energy.
This unique lecture promises to invigorate and interest all who have an interest in children’s play and championing children’s right to play.
