The Minister for Employment & Learning visited Hazelwood Integrated College as well as representatives from CCEA.
All 107 Hazelwood students achieved 100% success in their Advanced Level results today.
The Principal Mrs Kathleen Gormley said, “The excellent results from this diverse group of sixth formers across 23 subjects reflect the hard work of both students and teachers and provide students with the platform to move on to further and higher education as well as employment”.
Among the top achieving subjects are Business Studies, ICT, Health and Social Care, Moving Image Arts and Sports Studies.
This year, as part of our developing partnership with Further Education we have offered subjects such as Construction and Engineering. We will enhance this further in the next academic year by offering Hospitality, Catering and Environmental Technology
Hazelwood’s reputation for excellence in educating international students has continued, with 11 students achieving top grades at Advanced Level. We aim to enhance this further in the next academic year by providing opportunities for International work placements.
Combined with our Advanced level curriculum we have a careers programme in place which concentrates on new job opportunities in Northern Ireland and beyond. This has allowed our students to make informed choices when deciding on their future pathway.
This year has seen Hazelwood students choose a wide range of courses including ICT, Business Studies & Science as well as less traditional courses such as Food Manufacturing, International Travel and Tourism and Trainee Management Apprenticeships.
The opening of a new sixth form centre in September 2013 will build on the College’s success at A level, and provide the necessary facilities to cope with the increase in students wishing to study at Hazelwood Integrated College.
