For 2016, the Student Council of Integrated College Dungannon opted to organise a KS3 Sponsored Walk in Dungannon Park to support the work of the New Beginnings Children’s Village in Uganda. With the support of students, staff, parents and friends, £2006.16 was raised.
Due to disease, poverty, war and famine, there are approximately 2.3 million orphans in Uganda. The New Beginnings Village was built with the support of a group of people from County Down. One hundred and fifty-five orphans now enjoy living there in secure homes and receive a good education, medical care and spiritual guidance in a loving Christian environment.
Ms Beggs, Student Council Co-ordinator, plans to travel, with a team of volunteers, to the village during the summer holidays. She will work with the children and help paint their new school building.
