On Tuesday 8th March, a number of our Year 11 LLW students attended a Carrickfergus Schools’ Youth Event in Ballymena Town Hall. The event allowed local Carrickfergus schools to come together with local Mid & East Antrim Borough Councillors and Senior Council Staff, enabling them to learn more about the democratic process and role of Civic Leadership within the Borough.

There were a variety of activities on the day, including workshops looking at the Role of Council, the Role of Councillors, how Council Strikes the Rate/Prioritises Services and an opportunity to experience a Mock Council Meeting as the young people became Councillors themselves for the afternoon! A great day was had by all!
