Integrated Education Month 2024: Bias Busters

Each year, Integrated schools celebrate Integrated Education Month, which is an opportunity for the collective celebration of Integrated Education and reflection on what makes us unique.

For 2024, our theme is “Bias Busters”. You can find out more about Anti-Bias in Education and its role within Integrated Education here.

Leading up to IEM 2024, and in the time during and following March, Integrated schools across Northern Ireland are encouraged to explore what they do on a daily basis to instil anti-bias practice, and to create environments which intentionally include and celebrate every member of their community.

Following on from last year, we are once again working in collaboration with Into Film NI (external link), who, following conversations with the Teachers’ Committee, created some wonderful resources to encourage schools to explore bias through the mediums of filmmaking and storytelling.

Please take the time to explore these resources, which can be found on this dedicated page on the Into Film website. These resources are adaptable and suitable for children and young people from across different phases. We can’t wait to see what schools produce!

Remember to keep NICIE updated with the work you are doing in the lead up and during IEM 2024, as well as afterwards, whether it involves the Into Film resources or any other work carried out within your school.
