Portadown IPS showcased the depth of their integrated ethos, and why they had achieved an award in Excellence in Integrated Education, when they hosted a closing ceremony for International Integrated Education Week on 4 March 2016. Each class in Portadown IPS reflected the week’s theme of ‘harmony’ through pupil performances and shared how they had explored the theme.
The closing event was attended by NICIE staff and nearby integrated schools, Saints and Scholars IPS and Brownlow College. The Principal of Glencraig IPS, Shaunagh McKirgan, and some of her pupils were special guests at the event which also celebrated Glencraig’s recent success in achieving the Excellence in Integrated Education Award, recognising the hard work of the school in infusing management, governance, teaching, and learning with an excellent and exemplary integrated ethos.
NICIE CEO, Roisin Marshall, said she was proud to recognise the tremendous efforts of schools such as Portadown IPS and Glencraig IPS in nurturing their ethos and ensuring they embedded the core principles of integrated education. She congratulated both schools on their hard work and commitment.
