Hazelwood Integrated College
PRESS RELEASE – 13th August 2015
A LEVEL ACHIEVEMENT GIVES OPTIONS FOR ALL AT HAZELWOOD
All 160 Hazelwood Integrated College students achieved 100% success today.
The Principal Mrs Kathleen O’Hare said ‘the results from this diverse group of sixth formers across 27 subjects reflect the hard work of both students and teachers and provide students with the platform to move on to further and higher education as well as employment. These A Levels have afforded students the opportunity to take the next step to university, further education and work. Their course choices range from Law and Criminology, Medicinal Chemistry, Accountancy, Nursing, Health Sciences, Media, Engineering, Drama, Art and Dance’.
Among the top achieving academic subjects are Environmental Technology, Chemistry, History, Media, Art and Design and Moving image Art with top marks for the vocational subjects at Advanced Level in Health and Social Care, ICT, Business Studies, Hospitality and Catering, Business, ICT, Health and Social Care, Moving Image Art, Applied Science and Sports Studies.
The results prove that whatever your religion at Hazelwood, you can achieve equally well with both our top performing boys being Protestant and Catholic and the same with our girls. Jack White one of our young boys from the Shankill was particularly proud of his A*, A and B Grades. He said, ‘There is so much publicity about young men from my area doing badly but these grades and those of my friends prove that with hard work, good teachers and sound careers advice everybody can achieve. I would like to thank Hazelwood College for all their support.
Hazelwood’s reputation for excellence in educating international students has continued, with students achieving A*-C results at Advanced Level. Many of these students came to us with little English and yet have achieved top grades at Advanced Level. Anna Bernat is the last of 3 sisters who have attended Hazelwood. Anna achieved A*-C grades and she will now go into employment to gain experience before going on to further her studies.
