Northern Ireland Young People’s Report 2015

On 30 June 2015 youth@clc submitted ‘Our Lives in Our Words’ – their Alternative Young People’s Report to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) which was informed by nearly 900 young people from a diverse range of backgrounds across Northern Ireland using an online survey and research workshops which ran from October 2014 to May 2015.

The report was written by youth@clc, Children’s Law Centre, in conjunction with Save The Children and with research support services from Karen Orr of the Centre for Children’s Rights in Queens University Belfast. The purpose of the report is to inform the UN Committee Recommendations to the NI Government regarding their obligations Children & Young People’s Rights under the UN Convention on Children’s Rights.

The report recommendations will be used to prompt politicians, strategic decision makers and service providers to act on their obligations and improve children’s lives in Northern Ireland.
