Launch of International Integrated Education Week 2015

The Northern Ireland Council for Integrated Education (NICIE) is delighted to announce that International Integrated Education Week (IIEW2015) will be launched at Oakgrove Integrated Primary School, Londonderry/Derry, on Friday 27th February, 2015 at 10.00am.

International Integrated Education Week 2015 (IIEW2015) will run from Monday 2nd March to Friday 6th March. The theme will be ‘Horizons’. IIEW is an annual event where integrated schools across Northern Ireland, along with integrated schools in other countries, have the opportunity to come together and hold events to mark and celebrate Integrated Education.

The launch event will also include the Excellence in Integrated Education Award (EIEA). The Excellence in Integrated Education award recognises the hard work of a school in infusing management, governance, teaching, and learning with an excellent and exemplary integrated ethos.  This year Portadown Integrated Primary School will receive the EIEA. Oakgrove IPS were last year’s recipients of the EIEA.

 Larraine Coulter, Acting Principal of Oakgrove IPS, said:

“We are delighted to be handing on the torch to Portadown Integrated Primary School and very proud to have this opportunity to showcase our pupils and school community through a programme of speeches, animation, drama, music and song and look forward to celebrating with our local integrated schools at this year’s launch”.

Other events during International Integrated Education Week 2015 will include:

Wednesday 11th March (7pm): The NICIE All Children Together Annual Dunleath Lecture by Prof Alan Smith entitled “Shared Future or Separate Development” in the Canada Room, QUB

Thursday 5th March (10.30–12.25): Celebration event at Stormont showcasing the talent of integrated schools through song and drama.
