On Wednesday 18th June NICIE held a poetry and art workshop as part of the Community Relations Week events. Students in years 9, 10 & 11 came together from 5 colleges to work together. The workshops were held in Parkhall IC and every student was able to participate in both. We used the paper links from International Integrated Education week to write poems on integration. The art department worked with the students to produce a banner of a bridge, with each person represented by a decorated hand cut out. This was a fun day that allowed the students to get to know each other and discuss what it means to be part of an integrated community. We would like to thank Parkhall IC for hosting the event and also for the wonderful work done by their art teachers. We would also like to thank the students and teachers from, Blackwater IC, Malone IC, Parkhall IC, Shimna IC and Ulidia IC, who came along and participated so well in all aspects of the day. Please take the time to look at the picture of the banner and read the poems below.
