Integrated Education Month 2026: Better Together
Integrated Education Month 2026: Better Together
Each year, Integrated schools celebrate Integrated Education Month, which is an opportunity for the collective celebration of Integrated Education and reflection on what makes us unique.
For 2026 our theme is “Better Together”.
Integrated schools are proactive in engaging with their ethos and in striving to create opportunities for connections and understanding, acknowledging that as a society and as people we are Better Together. Schools encourage a diverse mix of communities, in terms of pupils, staff and families, and moreover, they recognise that it is vital to utilise this mix, proactively celebrating diversity and finding deep and meaningful learning opportunities through this.
IEM will take place in March 2026. We acknowledge that schools may celebrate this in and around the month, but if it works better for you we encourage you to take one week in March as a focus point, with NICIE endeavouring to share the work being done on our platforms. Please see some information below which might assist you with your celebrations.
IEM 2026 Padlet board
This year for IEM 2026, we have created a Padlet page signposting schools to relevant resources they may wish to use in connection with the theme, Better Together. This resource is designed to be a collaborative tool for teachers from Integrated schools to share and utilise resources related to the theme. It is split into different sections, some of which will naturally overlap.
It is very straightforward to contribute; simply click the ‘plus’ symbol and add your resources or ideas. We will approve all contributions before they are published. Whilst is already populated with different ideas, it could certainly be even more expansive – collaboration is the aim of Teachers’ Committee.
The Padlet has three template PowerPoint presentations for assemblies and/or lessons, containing some notes as well as additional stories and songs which could be utilised, and interactive gifs (click on these to make them work). These are templates, and should be reviewed and adapted to suit your own age group. There is one for Nursery, one for Primary and one for Post-Primary, but there may be slides across presentations that you wish to use.
As always, please review any resource yourself before utilising it, as you will know what is appropriate for your students/pupils.
