Integrated Education Month - March 2023

Integrated Education Month, March 2023: The Big Picture
A huge well done to all the Integrated schools who took part in The Big Picture to celebrate IEM 2023! We’ve had a lot of fun supporting teachers with film and filmmaking and getting out to see your pupils during our Integrated Education themed Story Builder workshops.
Big Picture Competition
So much creativity has been channeled into showing what it means to you, your students and your school, to be a part of Integrated Education’s Big Picture – and we’d love to see those outcomes. Whatever they did, we want to hear from you, so we’re offering a chance for you to win some prizes (1st Prize: £100 Amazon voucher, 2nd & 3rd Prizes: £50 Amazon voucher, Runner up Prizes: green screens).
To enter our Big Picture Competition, share your success stories by 28th April, by either:
Sending us photos, written work, artwork, videos or video links to

OR
If you’re a winner, we will be in touch at the start of May.
More competitions and offers
The Big Picture theme this year represents how we are all individual parts of the patchwork; whilst we are beautiful individually, we are powerful as a collective!
We each make our own unique contribution to Integrated Education’s Big Picture and Integrated Education Month 2023 is an opportunity to explore and express our individual identities. Let’s encourage students, staff, parents and others to showcase and celebrate the tapestry of diversity that we are and remind your community of your school’s contribution to the development of the Integrated ethos.
Why film?
Film is a powerful tool that provides a platform for our young people, enabling their voices to be heard. They are already comfortable with film language and come to film-based activity with pre-existing knowledge and skills.
How can I get involved?
You and your students can get creative with film to celebrate Integrated Education. Through filmmaking, you can encourage, inspire and support students to tell their stories. Choose from our range of activities and find the right support for you.
What support can I get?
Created in collaboration with education charity, Into Film NI (external link) and our NICIE Teachers’ Committee, our resource (PDF, 13.4MB) will support you to contribute to The Big Picture – bringing together our shared vision to champion children telling their stories in Northern Ireland. It’s packed with great ideas.
Into Film hosted free short webinars on the 7th and 9th February for Primary and post-Primary respectively. You can view the recordings below.
